| Thallus small-foliose, rosette-forming to irregularly spreading, to 2 cm wide. Lobes dark bluish black, adjacent; margins ascending, 'frosted' white. Upper surface faintly ridged. Lower surface pale, with blackish rhizohyphae. Cyanobiont Nostoc, in clusters. Apothecia sparse, 0.5–1 mm wide; disc flat, matt, red-brown; exciple persistent, crenulate, thalline. Ascospores 15–20 × 10 µm, sometimes apiculate below and then to 25 µm long, with rugulose exosporium. CHEMISTRY: P+ orange; pannarin. | ||
| Occurs rarely in Qld, in humid, tropical-subtropical forests on bark. Also in New Caledonia. | ||
